Lukas Nelson in Humboldt Co.

February 1st, 2012  saw the return of Lukas Nelson to the Mateel Community Center in Redway (next to Garberville)...

Lukas played while his brother Micah Nelson painted a picture depicting the mighty redwood trees our area is known for...

Lukas began playing guitar years ago when he asked his father Willie Nelson what he wanted for his birthday, and Willie said "I want you to learn to play guitar"...

And learn he did...

Brother Micah interpreting his vision of our redwoods...

Here's an interesting juxtaposition of the two brothers working side by side on stage...

Lukas and me...

The house WAS rockin' with the band pounding out strong rhythms and melodies...and the audience was totally in sync with the band...they fed off each other, and encouraged each other, and the entire building was vibrating to the beat...I'm serious...a deaf person could touch the walls and listen...

The audience came to dance, and dance they did, with vigor...

I don't know how the band gathers enough energy to play for almost 2 solid hours, the majority of the songs are fast paced boogie rock...meant to get folks off their asses and beat feet to the beat, and the sturdy floor of the MCC was built to take it...dance on, folks, dance on...

Lukas will play in Ukiah Feb 4th at the Ukiah Brewery, and Feb 9th at the Caspar Inn in Caspar (just south of Ft Bragg)...

It's unknown if Micah will join him...

Their father Willie Nelson will be in California & Reno in a few weeks...

BTW...the band that opened for Lukas was Aloha Radio, from Orange County, California..and they do surf-rock music, and were well received by the audience...
